Good Idea ... May be we can build on this ... making monetary contrributions will risk the appearance of "buying a green card".
How about this:
Most of us claim to be highly experienced, highly educated, in diverse fields. A while back there was an announcement about serving for the military and in exchange for the service, you get a green card/ fast track to citizenship. In a similar vein, if there is a progam in place where we commit to educate students in colleges, high schools and other accredited institutions for a certain fixed period (say 1-2 yrs), we earn the green card sooner. This would be more platable. We utilize our skills, teach students, serve the community and shows our commitment to our prospective adopted country. It fits in like a glove with what President Obama is calling on citizens to do, his "army of teachers" ready made
This way we will be able to channelize positive support and there will be nothing that antis could argue against.
I love to teach, I have taught before while completing my Masters.

No lies, salary cannot be raised and people on H-4 cannot work. The article is right.
What I don't get is where they got that the Sept 18 rally will see 5000 of us attending? That's way too little guys, we need at least double that!
Will we even have 5000 people??? I will be (pleasantly) surprised if we do!
Too bad most of us think this rally is a waste of time. I hope they wake up and realize that doing nothing and waiting for their GCs will be an even bigger waste of time if they lose their job 3 years down the line!

Employer letter is not required if you are attaching photocopies of two current pay stubs.

You would need employee letter as well. The employee letter will state that the position is still open and they are willing the pay the amount that was initially agreed to while filing for labor.....so pay stub is not enough.....

Yes you are right, there is bound to have EAD flood in market, with spouses of hi-tech worker will come to market to search hi-tech job with spouse phone support. I have seen such cases countless times in past few years and yes they will be in future without exception. However, matter of fact, these fresh EAD (previous H4) don't get the dream job in first attempt, it takes good 2 year to find a similar job that H1b hitech worker does.
But thats the realty of market, every year new jobs are added and every year new job seekers join the crowd.
On the otherside, a hitech worker is suppose to always learning something new and getting his/her position more stronger everyday, its a knowledge market, whoever knows more gets better $$. With my 7yr US exp and total 10 yrs CS exp I have no scare that any single fresh EAD will come close to me. A senior is always a senior no matter which field you talk.

EB-3 india is not yet completely out of 245(i) mess. If you remember the last month's priority date was 22Apr 2001. Now in Jan priority date is 08May2001. 245(i) ended on Apr30th 2001. So this month's progress still includes 8 days of 245(i). I would imagine that more cases were filed from Apr 22 - Apr 30 as this was the last week. So its still a long way to go before EB3 is completely out of 245(i).

You say all these because you understand. Most of these police officers out there (and even Immigration Enforcement officers) dont understand the laws they are enforcing. I once asked an american embassy consular officer during an H1B renewal interview how long I had to stay in the US if I get laid off from my job. She smiled and said she doesnt know. Ironic right? That is US Immigration laws for you. So complex yet so unreasonable.

In addition, there is a whole loooooong list of documents that you attach to the I485- your attorney should advise you on this. The most important once for employment based immigration are documents showing legal status up until the I485 application and current offer letter from your company. There are many many more documents you need to provide...search the net for the necessary documents...

Since the CP guys are in minority here , if IV has to invest for them (read we all have to pay for them ) let us see how much they can contribute for their own provision. Let us see if each one of them contribute more than 500 dollars to IV and posts the paypal number.
