So as per USCIS a total of 600,000 applications were pending until June. We can add another 600,000 for july-aug... total now 1.2 Million

The applicants of I-485 are expected to experience delays in obtaining the green card for two factors: One is the visa number cut-off date movement in the Visa Bulletin. The other is the processing delays within the USCIS field offices, including Service Centers. Accordingly, "current" of their visa priority in the Visa Bulletin may not assure them immediate adjudication of their I-485 applications depending on the I-485 workloads and the processing backlogs within the agency.
The following statistics reflect a steady increase in the number of I-485 applications (including family-based and other cases) during the months before the July VB fiasco hit the roof as is shown in the following table:

The new statistics for July and August 2007 will add a body temperature to the new I-485 filers with the realization why it would be so important that the political leaders and the Congress should act and pass a legislation to reform employment-based immigration system coming fall. Without such legislation, their journey for immigration will remain intolerably painful.

I am very thrilled at the news that our President has own the highest honor of this world.
Hearty Congratulations Mr. President !!!!
I and my family feel immensely proud that we are able to live in this country of freedom governed by a great leader like you.
Mr President you are the symbol of hope not only for the citizens of USA but also for all of the immigrant community. You have raised our hopes that we will also be able to become a citizen of this great country soon. Your selection as the Nobel Peace Prize winner has strengthen this hope further. Sir, Please do not belie our hopes.
Please revamp the current immigration rules and provide immidiate attention to the immigration reform. Sir, we all are looking up to you.
Congratulations to you Mr President and Congratulations to all of the citizens and residents of USA.

This is simply putting cart in front of horse ... he hasn't been president for more than 9 months and hasn't solved a single economic problem our country is facing.
And if being simply president was creterion than our ex-presidente (Mr Cheney ... oops Mr. Bush ;)) would had got 8 noble prizes + 4 from Papa. It re-inforces my opinion that europeans are ... simply out of touch w/ reality. Look america has already showed world, it can elect a black as a president from country of pre-dominatly white ( still white, check census). And what have these european self-labeled-elites done comparably?
If you think this person has vision and can solve worlds problems than do as he asks. Join us in fighting global terror, economic troubles and uplifting democarcy in middle-east.
Yes, God bless America and spare us from these snobs.

I feel lobbying is the best way followed by occasional rallies.
And we need to do some high-profile lobbying. Like get the big companies involved. I hear these big companies have their own lobbying manager (Google has them) working full time. And they have deeper pockets than our $20 or $50.

Disagree, the reason you see lot of cases with (older PDs but later RDs) still awaiting approval is because when the PDs were current these cases were still not ripe (e.g: they were waiting name check clearance)....

My argument was on when your file will be looked at the first time. Of course, to get visa number numerous conditions, such as PD Currency, name-check, various documents, etc., have to be met. What I meant is that your file will be looked at the first time, only after cases physically received at the center reviewing your case (no matter what RD is shown on your receipt) before your case was recieved, have been looked at.
Thus, even if you name check is cleared, your PD is Current, and you provided all required documents, if there are cases physically received before your case was received (no matter what RD is shown on your receipt) which are still to be looked at (at least once), your file will not be looked at.
Note that when you call Customer Support, they recognize Receive Date what you see in your online status as "...your case was received on...", which may be quite different than RD on your receipt.
Processing Dates published in monthly reports for each center are manually entered by their staff, and do not tell whether those dates mean "no case is pending older than this date", or "at least one case has been dealt with past this date", as the truth is something in between.
Of course, internal processing and handling of physical files could be anything but known to the outside world. For example, it is possible that an officer was given a bundle of cases to look at, but then he/she proceeds on leave for 4 weeks, leaving them on desk to work on his/her return.

It would be great to have premium processing for 485s instead now that visa nos are available. Now now ... i know thats wishful thinking but think about it-could save a lot of time and money over EAD/AP/FP renewals. But then again hurts their income stream thats why they wont do it :((

Come on.. we are not talking about hiring.. No company is waiting in line to hire anybody coming out from Aspen University with Masters Degree.
What we are talking here is whether One holding 3 yr bachelors Degree from India be eligible to apply under EB-2 category after completing Masters Degree from an accredited university.
If the PERM Job description says " Masters Degree"
GO home and stand in front of a mirror and ask yourself if your 3 year degree and a masters bought for 4k will get you a greencard in eb2.

I think the OP has some valid points. Certainly recapture lawsuit may work as the law does not say that allocated EB visas expire. Do not listen to nay-sayers, just do it.
Here is one example of the succsessfull class-action (even though the court case died in a court of appeals, it was beneficial to immigrants):

As long as you sent it by certified mail and have the return receipt, if it does not make into your file and if later they issue an RFE, you have covered your base. As long as your new job satisfied the AC21 parameters and you have the certified mail receipt, you are fine. Relax and enjoy new job.

So looks like only the renewal will have a delay. First-timers won't face much difficulties.
It might be a problem for those people working on EAD and waiting for renewal since they can't work if the renewal does not come in time. Why does USCIS not allow grace period for people to work based on receipt , the same way it does for H1b??
