Need to travel via British airways. H1b visa is expired and need to get UK transit visa.
Any experiences on the quickest way to get this?

Please don't travel thru countries that impose this ridiculous transit Visa requirement on individuals, especially from India. Ask them to justify the charges, and you would get no response from them.
So, even if takes to spend $200 - 300 more, AVOID these crook countries that charge Transit Visa. People we must send the message across. In this century, I think its Indians that are traveling the most on these trans-atlantic-asia route, and collectively avoiding these 'snob' countries would send a very good signal.
If you are buying the transit visa, your dignity is at stake. Its like saying buying insurance for a person who is poor. They dont charge for countries that are more developed. so, AVOID AVOID these countries.
I am traveling to India soon, and I am going thru Brussels not because I got a cheap ticket, but because there is no transit visa required there.

In my opinion the USCIS did this to get the 485 cases to be filed after July 30 when their new fee schedule kicks in. They have just created a mess.

They will stamp for the latest i797A. The old one is obsolete. If you notice the I94 numbers are the same.
You are right on the I94 numbers; they are the same. But how come the old one is obsolete. Its valid till June 2007. And the latest 797 is from July 07 till July 2010. They'll have to combine both I797's dates to stamp till 2010 or they'll go with the first 797. Am I right??

I wish others (who do not) understand , that they know it is not yet law and there is work that needs to be done.
And I wish all other members who have not contributed .. contribute soon, as that is the most visible request from IV to members today. And I believe these contributions will go towards acchiving our dreams.

Hi All,
Its seems that my approved EAD card lost from mailbox (seems like post man delivered it in diff mail box instead of mine).. It�s been more than 15 days of approval but no card in the mail.
I contact customer service and they said wait for 30 days otherwise file new one. I am not sure what are the option I have if I won�t receive my card on time? My existing EAD is expiring within next 25 days. Is there any way that I can get my card back or USCIS issue new card without filling new one?

Hi,
I may know the answer, but I thought i would check.
Below is my situation:
1) I-140 approved in Jan 2008
2) I-485 pending since July 2007
3) I have a 2 year EAD
Now, if I switch my job and the new employer is not ready to transfer my H1-B, can I use my EAD to work(provided my I-140 is not revoked by the previous employer)
Also, any chance that I could keep my GC application alive? what will happen when my Priority date becomes current.

The current economic crisis has many victims. To hear about this 90 year old woman who attempted suicide is depressing too. There is a slight twist at the end, Fannie Mae forgave her debt.

On a different note, what about us folks who have been on this never ending path to legal immigration for ever and such events e.g economic crisis, rising unemployement etc impact us in a huge way and we don't have any recourse. What do you guys think should the USCIS do? Should they "forgive" us our circumstances. Should there be special rules in these unforseen circumstances?

dpp: did you open a SR or contact USCIS that you think might have expedited your FP? Also, what was the timeline of your case Xfr from CSC back to NSC? Also, is your FP scheduled at an ASC in CA Bay area? Pleasr provide more information.
I am July 2 filer, ASC in Bay Area. My case was receipted at CSC with ND Sep 6. It was then transferred and received by NSC on Sep 21.
I then opened a service request for FP on Oct 2. On Oct 22, NSC responded that case is waiting for biometrics at local ASC. I then lost all my patience and on Nov 6 shot off a mail to ombudsman, Prakash , highlighting my details.
Subesequently, my FP notice got generated on Nov 7 and my spouse's was generated on Nov 8.
I am writing the details to highlight that for NSC_CSC_NSC filers, you definitely have to act to get FP notice, especially if you are in Bay area. You might get lucky and fet FP by waiting, but it is better to act.

Last question,
If I were to go with I-140 premium, and get approve let says October 15.
Is it going to do any good because 485 is even worse, right now is processing only Dec 2, 2005 and move slower than turtle. That's why I need to know somebody who get 485 approve from Nebraska to say something here. But I know basically people who already got 485 approved will never come back to spend time on this forum. But if you know friends or anybody got 485 approved please write something like Priority date and 485 receipt date.

If the admissions people are confused they need to talk with their foreign student advisor who should be well versed in this stuff. She is no longer an F-1 and therefore not subject to any F-1 rules �
I guess it's up to the school to determine if they will allow her to finish her degree on AOS/EAD. some of you suggested ..school can make rules. We suggested to school that that other school do allow partial course load in certain situations. They say it may be true ..but they don't have that policy.
If they don't allow her..i don't see any option but to fork up 7-8K. It would be great if you can provide me an official document /link indicating she can study during AOS.

Can you please share your experiences with renewal of Indian passport in US. They are asking for 3.5cm x 3.5cm photos which are not same as the regular passport size photos. The CGI Houston website mentions passport size photos as requirement in some places and 3.5cm X 3.5 cm photos in some other places. Can you please share on what you did for the photos? thanks a lot.
