I called 4 member, the person at frontdesk didn't transfer me anywhere. Also, they knew why I am calling and they remember all three Bill Numbers by heart now.
When I said Can I leave the message then I was told we got your message Sir, and I will pass on the message to Senator.
The frontdesk staff is instructed not to transfer our calls to the right person in their office. So after calling 4 members, I stopped.
Thanks.

Dear Senator
I am a highly-skilled professional who entered this country legally. I’ve been waiting for my US permanent resident visa -also known as "Green Card" for the past several years along with 500,000 other educated, highly skilled employment based (EB) immigrants. Many of us have been waiting for our turn to get Green Cards for 5-10 years while consistently abiding by all the laws of this country. Such long delays are due to tortuous and confusing paper work, backlogs due to various quotas and processing delays at US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), other allied state and federal agencies.
Several categories of EB immigrant visa (Green Card) numbers were unavailable (“retrogressed”) since the fall of 2005. Because our immigrant petitions are tied to the sponsoring employer.
For the past several decades, the US Department of State (DOS) has been publishing advisories known as visa bulletins once a month to announce the availability of immigrant visa numbers. On June 13, 2007, after a gap of nearly two years, DOS announced that all EB visa numbers would be “current” for the month of July. This meant, irrespective of our “priority date” (date assigned to us for our turn in the line for Green Cards), all of us were made eligible to apply for some interim immigration benefits. This “priority date” refers to the date when our labor certification (documentation verifying no US citizen worker was available for a given job) had been filed.
Please note that 6/13 DOS announcement would not have led to immediate green card for most of us; but at least it would have ensured us interim benefits such as the right to travel and right to work for any employer- this was still a welcome change. Especially, for dependent spouses who are otherwise unable to work, this would have translated into right to travel and work without restriction and thus channel their energies positively. Several dependent spouses are also highly-skilled.
Tens of thousands of applicants spent thousands of dollars in legal fees, immigration medical exams & vaccinations & getting various supporting documents ready to file our immigrant petitions to USCIS, at times inconveniencing our old parents in our home countries as well. It has been an agonizing two weeks for us. Some of us to had to fly in our spouses from our home countries or have had to cut short business trips. Hundreds of millions of dollars were spent by thousands of immigrants in preparation of their application. To our shock and dismay, on the morning of July 2nd 2007, USCIS announced that EB visa numbers were not available and all petitions filed in July would be rejected.
For the legal skilled immigrants this has been a rather traumatizing and disheartening experience. These are people that are in the country legally, paid taxes and followed all the rules.
We sincerely seek immediate congressional/ legislative remedial measures which would
(1)Reduce the enormous backlogs of green card petitions of legal skilled immigrants
(2)Ensure and request USCIS not to reject our immigrant visa petitions filed in July and provide us interim benefits of a pending immigrant visa petition. We make this sincere request with the hope that people who played by the rules will be rewarded.
Please correct us if you feel it is wrong to send the letter typed below:

I think the thread should stay open so that members that do not visit this site regularly know the truth.
.
www.immigration-law.com has now retracted his statement this morning. He maybe following our website and giving updates.
When our members posted this yesterday, some of our members started accusing IV core of not knowing anything and indirectly saying that they are not doing the job right. Now we have seen that IV core team responded to the thread quickly and gave us the correct answer even before anybody else on the internet could give. That itself shows how much these core people are working hard. It is us that are at fault by not helping them. They are doing all this with the support of mere 200 members that have contributed. I think it is our responsibility to contribute even without their asking us. Let core team do their work and we can all support them from outside.
Great job IV.
I wouldn't pass such judgements on immigration-law.com. They've acknowledged the mistake. It's not like no one makes any mistakes, it's how they acknowledge and move forward.

I E-Filed my 2nd EAD Renewal on 04/30/2010 and when answering the current immigration status in E Filing application as there is no appropriate option I left Blank and submitted. This is my second E-Filing , when I was first filed renewal this question is not there.
After a week I sent my photos along copy of 485 Receipt, copy of I 140 approval receipt, previous copies of EAD & copy of Driving License with a covering letter saying that I left the current immigration status filed is blank on the online form and I mentioned my current immigration in the covering letter as Pending I-485 based authorized stay.
Yesterday I got the email from USCIS On May 20, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
( First time I got one year, when renewal lost time I got two years, this 2nd Renewal).

While I did consider that when i was reading his email, is it not true that there were around 10000 visas wasted last year because of inability of USCIS processing the applications (essentially processing delays). Should we assume that USCIS ability has increased 4 times this year?
There is one major flaw in your lawyers analysis.
He is correct in saying that they issued 11,111 GC's per monththis year, but however that was under retrogression when dates were so far behind (dates for EB2 and EB3 India hadnt moved for ever). His analysis does not take into account those whose 485's may have been pre approved but were not issued a GC due to date not being current. We are not talking about new applications being approved but those whose applications were already preapproved and just waiting for visa numbers.
Anyway no one knopws what will really happen. Just file as early as possible and leave the rest to luck or divine power. Jo hoga dekha jayega, but this is not the time for tyupical desi procascination.

Thank you, Totoro for leading this effort. My suggestions are same as gc_dream07, but I would like to reword the suggestion
2) Remove the country cap for employment based immigration (the argument we should put forward is that when it comes to employment based immigration the deciding criteria should be individuals skills now where the individual was born).
3) Capture the unused Visa (Green Cards)
Exactly, it is okay to have country cap for those who are coming in through lottery or for those who come in through family based GCs. But for employment based GCs, it should be the skill that matters, not from which country he comes from.

We, the "aliens".
"Part of my frustration is to hear illegal immigrants called immigrants when I'm called an alien. I'm doing things right, but I'm still called an alien," ... "If I lose my job tomorrow, my reward is a ticket back home." Very true...
Most of my colleagues on L1/H1 visas went back upon completion of their 5/6 year terms, they never applied for GC. Couple of them are right now packing back.
The management of the company (not IT related) bravely decided to replace the "aliens" by american engineers. This proud decision had a disaterous consequence - our international based customers pulled back and found other contractors. Despite of all the money pumped to promote the "american" presence in the company, down-sizing is on its way and closure is on the horizon...
I was stupid enough to decide in 2003 to apply for a GC and to bear all this BS. Now working hard on plan B and waiting for the right moment.

Starsun I would request you to put in another clarification for the benefit of all so that IV Core's stand is well known and published. Predictions & calculations help people to know what the ground reality is and plan their lives. Now we dont have people on IV whether EB2 or EB3 being sad after every VB because everyone knows when to expect what and predictions and calculations IMHO has gone a long way in correcting that situation.
I read several posts promoting advocacy which is very good however they take pride in trashing predictions and calculations for no apparent reason it seems to be in fashion / vogue. If advocacy has to be promoted it has to be done in a positive way there is no need to trash predictions and calculations at every available opportunity. Some of these immature comments are very disrespectful to the effort that is being put in my many of us on the predictions blog. If some people do not like what is being done on that blog they are really free not to visit but unnecessary comments should really stop or be moderated.
Teddy -
I have deep personal respect for you and the people who have spent countless hours trying to come up with the predictions framework.
It provides a way for all of us to make sense of where we stand in the line and what to expect - to a large degree of reasonableness. That way, at least we are not groping in the dark, with false hopes or false hopelessness.
The point that also needs to be kept in mind is that predictions are dependent on policies and anything that we can "do" to impact policies, will have a positive effect on predictions.
We do not need to take predictions as a full & final situation for all of us about which nothing can be done. Advocacy is a way to do something about the policies that impact our situation, so that our predicted timelines become better.
We are in a situation similar to driving from coast to coast on I-80, where everyone except the retrogressed countries are allowed to get on the highway and drive full-speed whenever they want to, whereas we are only allowed to get on to the highway when "rules permit". Based on these rules, we have done a decent job of predicting when we might be able to get on to the highway.
We now need to also put significant effort on changing the rules, so that we can get on the highway sooner.
The point that everyone is making (may not be as simply - like everything else, this too gets emotional many times) is lets not get content due to predictions, but also do our part to change the ground rules.
Hope this helps.

EAD has nothing to do with travel. your AP is your travel document. make sure BEFORE you leave the country you have the AP in hand that is valid on the day you re-enter the country. if you currently have an AP that expires after your return date, then you are good to go. even if you file for AP revewal now you must have received the approval BEFORE you fly.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply !
I have valid AP have no issues to travel but my concern is if my application is not approved before i start(May 14th) then what will be the status of my application

just an update from my end. I had sent my EAD renewal application to NSC by mistake when it should have gone to Phoenix lockbox. My check was cashed today from Phoenix center, so looks like NSC forwarded my application to the right place.
This is really funny!
You had sent your EAD renewal to NSC and it was sent to Phoenix lock box.....
Read another post for EAD renewal that was sent to Phoenix lock box but got re-routed to NSC........
Where is the info that tells us where exactly to send them? Anyone?
