My wife went on Jan 17th for h1b stamping in Chennai. It was cool. She is doing her residency in a non profit organization. The VO was cracking jokes, saying "You do internal medicine for humans whereas your husband does internal medicine for computers".
I heard they are pretty cool these days. But make sure to take all your w2s and payslips and also make sure you tell him/her what you do and that has to match your petition, he may ask, how many years u r in US, how many children etc....
If anyone had bad experiences in recent times, please let us know.

Going to Initial Review after approval is scary but normal when you get done FP after approval. I think if you have the I-797 approval then there is nothing to worry about. If you follow a thread in tracki*t you will know that couple of people also got similar status change after FP.

The bad news is that. You will get your green card in 5 years and after other five years you will get your citizenship. So in 10 years will be in position to get married.

I've gone through the pretty much same situation and had a hell of time
with it.
The best way in my opinion is:
1. Stamp H1B with latest approval from India(Home country) is the BEST way.
2. If you have the approval right now goto Mexico or Canada and stamp it.
3. Show the new approval letter to the POE and beg him to give the new data ( Mar 2007). ( Incase you dont stamp VISA).
4) Incase you dont want to stamp and at POE officer gave you Feb28, immediately after reaching here, do an amendment on you H1B saying
a slight change in job description. ( Like add one more thing in your responsibilites or whatever)
If he gives Mar 2007 on I-94 you are okay. If he give Feb 28 that would
create problems. I did not know it first time and found it after the date expired on the I-94. Murthy advised me to do an H1B amendment. So I had to spend about 3grands on this. Atty said technically I had some 2 months out of status stay. I travelled out after this incident. Nothing happened to
me on the way back. So I guess everything is okay.
I would recommend as clean as you could with these things, since doing business with USCIS is an ugly one.

My take: these talk radio hosts cannot do anything for our cause. They spend all the time in radio. Only lobbying works and that too a focussed effort. Our focus must be in getting the message across to the Judiciary Commitee members, then as many senators as possible. Next step will be with the house members and this is the most difficult task.
IV is doing this and the results are there in the form of amendments. On another track, Sen Cornyn has introduced a good point in his SKIL bill Section 402. This I am sure is the result of letter from someone affected by retrogression / backlog.
So, we can get results only by presenting our problems directly to Senators and Congressman.

My wifes' application is in the same situation (though mine is clear). I sent (through attorney) proof of check encashment from the bank and also a new check for $70.
Attoney gave these options
1) Send ONLY proof of check encashment - This could lead to delay in Processing till they find the locate the missing check and account it
2) Send proof of check + $70 - They may or may not encash the new check. If they resolve the issue without encashing the new check, it's well and good. If they do encash it and the issue is resolved - well, it's still better than her application getting rejected over $70 [ Of course MTR and other actions can be taken, but didn't think it was worth it]
Attorney response has reached them. Waiting for the change in her application status ( God only knows when it'll get changed)

No objections to AAPI especially when my spouse is a doctor and we are indian... But ethnic diversity in IV is not "good to have", But is must.
In my view It will be easy to achieve goals set by IV with broadbased
support from various ethnic groups.
PS : I am happy it doesn't turn out to be "pie fight" uptill now, But It is always advisable to be cautious.

I received receipt nos. from CSC. Later i received EAD also. Today i received mail from USCIS stating that my case is transferred to Nebraska. :(
