Lunch is supposed to be taken at cafeteria not at cubicles.It doesnt matter whether it's curry or burger.Both smell bad.
The project where I worked in the past does not have a cafeteria at all. All my friends/colleagues used to eat at their cubicles only. Is there some kind of unofficial rule that you have to eat at a cafeteria. I feel most small companies do not have a cafeteria. I've seen in different projects that I worked, most employees whether desi or somebody else ate at their cubicles only.

According to the report, there are 100K to 150K applications pending to be processed (guessing PD is current and hence includes dependents) and 500k to 750k applications expected if PD becomes current. If we assume 2.1 dependents on an average, this comes to 1M - 1.5M applications if PD is current. So is the total 1.1M - 1.65M? Does that sound right?

I think, there is a strong message in this case, something I have personally faced in the past and do still face at at a smaller level. Though it is not an attempt to help raise money for her. The poll shows that there are substantial number of cases from Yr 2004 or earlier. This shows that the Dates will be going back in October Visa bulletin. If the number of applications are 50 times of the polled numbers, then also it will take 2-3 years to clear the Yr 2004 and earlier applications.

We are here because of our good parents. Forgetting them is most disrespect we do in life.
If we don't care our parents, when we become older(parents) how will our kids will care us?.
Research are proving...if we live together as family like in olden days...many health issues will disappear...everybody will be happy, no stress.

My company lawyer addressed this part. The way it works is that they will work on your file only when your PD is current. So even if you apply now, they most likely wont work on it after July as your PD wont be current. Then when next time (say in Jan 2008) when your PD becomes current, they will pick up all the files for that month and start working on it. It might be that they will work on your file on Jan1st or Jan 31st. You can send your wife AOS the moment your PD becomes current. So you want to make sure that it reaches there before they approve your AOS. In case you are extremely unlucky, then they would start working on your file on 1st day of the month and finish it before end of that day, making it impossible for your wife's application to go through. Thats rare though. So if you can make sure that her app reaches on 1st day of the month in which PD is current, then they should most likely add her to your AOS and work on those together and make your life go forward....its a chance which you will be taking...But again life is a chance

It is of no use to you unless you want to switch jobs on EAD which is a HUGE RISK!!My guess is you are going to get married at some point of time(Barring guys who are already in their midlife crisis b4 marriage) and would apply for your wife's Adjustment of Status. Please apply 485 togather when the PD bcomes current again. Bear in mind that even if you apply now b4 marriage you have to maintain your H1-B status. It will only make it worse when one had already applied for I-485 coz you could only get 1 year extensions as opposed to 3 years when you have an approved I-140 and have not filed for 485. Don't get overzealous and apply now and regret later!!

Is the ONLY benefit for applying 485 , for me, is to get EAD? I mean, if I don't apply for AOS now, I am assured that me and my spouse can file together when PD becomes current and they will approve ONLY if my PD is current. Isn't that right? That could be five years away, but, my spouse will be able to piggyback on my GC processing.
Please remember that my fiancee is already on H1-B currently in India. I am from India too.

We have a few people making their way to USCIS - so we should know in sometime.
Actually when I say a few, there are probably only 3 or 4. Even after working the phones, emails and private messages, we could not get too many DC area members to help out.
If I have one regret for this campaign it is that I should have booked my flight tickets to DC - it would have been just so exciting to have such a good opportunity to voice our issues and concerns.

Good find !! After reading this article, I guess, USCIS would well support our demand for filing I-485 when PDs not current as it will give them more $$$ from EAD and AP extensions.

You can't generalize. If your kids are smart they can get into better colleges like IITs etc. I think you are confusing the issue about adaptability with good future prospects.
Wait a second. If you are not adaptable to the new environment, it becomes a rat race.If the situation is not conducive, your smartness aint gonna help. I think thats what the OP clearly meant. Its not easy for a kid who is in 8th grade in US to snugly fit into Indian System. Coming to the IIT's, Have you ever compared the total number of seats available in IIT's to the accepted numbers from IVY leagues and other big schools. In India, you have to be the best among the best to get into IIT's. You have to be best here and oh yeah.. You dont have to lose some of the smartness to reservations. But I agree with you that parents should let children pursue their own interests rather than thinking about him/her being a doc/eng.

I am sorry but I disagree with the "best among the best" comment. To equate success in the IIT entrance exam to being the best is a mistake. Success in the entrance exams to those Insititutions comes from focus and hard work. This does not necessarily mean that the people who go there are the best. They ARE definitely the best at preparing for the exam.

Nurses are part of EB. This nill has many benefits. More nurses will be out of greencard queue leaving others more chance. US has acute nurses shortage. It is well documented. There is not much shortage of IT professionals . Unemployment is so high. But nurses are in demand and it is important for the healthcare of the nation. Supporting the bill is a win win for everyone in EB wait.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure how that will divide the community. As per USCIS laws currently, the spillover is horizontal. Based on this assumption, will EB3-I get any visas if the recapture is successful?

Guys if the employer's lawyer is not giving you information regarding the I140 and you are going behind their back for this information is it really going to help you with portability? It looks like they are just trying to make life miserable for you and what guarantee is there that they will not revoke your I140? I140 portability does not work if they revoke your I 140.
