Hmm...let me guess. Well, I had same issues with my current lawyer who is a official corporate attorney for immigration matters with my employer. Good part is, I didn't have to pay money to him but bad part is he is mostly not-responsive, arrogant, treated us like slaves, rude and what not. He doesn't answer anything about AC21 and we have to go thru' HR if we have any questions. Many a times, employees are completely unaware what is going on with their immigration papers. I did not receive my LC or copy of I-140. Guess this differs from person to person and company to company.
well, now since I have decided to enjoy freedom using AC21, I would like a good lawyer to represent my case; whom I should be able to ask questions.

Can someone answer this? If you get your EAD before six months of filing, do you still have to wait 6 months to benefit from AC21? Or, can you change employers immediately after you get EAD, without waiting 6 months?

If you resign you will loose your PD and thus GC. The only option is leave of absence.

After eight years my husband is almost able to work (waiting for EAD) and my son has aged out for derivative benefits and is on an F1 with no realistic path to permanent residency and eventual citizenship.
I agree, those who crossed a border illegally or overstayed are now looking at the American Dream being handed to them.
The DREAM act, if it stays in the legislation will give the children of the illegals state tuition rates (I work for the university my son attends and found it hard to get in state tuition rates for him) and they will also get conditional residency and will be able to apply for their own green cards after five years.
Amazing really, that we are seeing and hearing this in the land we chose to live in which claims to be a land where the rule of law is paramount.

Ramba, what are different levels? example, I found something similar on flc data center website. How can I know which level I am in to?

I think my original question still remains unanswered.
1. I do not have my I-485 receipt notice(I do have the numbers though)
2. I do not have EAD/AP(Employer did not let us apply)
3. I'm already in my 7th year of H1. Current stamp expires in Sep'2008.
Can I invoke Ac21 somehow?
I would suggest that you apply for EAD/AP yourself without lawyer's help. I think you can just use receipt numbers.

The FBI name check is not a side problem that once we finish fighting other problems, let's come back and pick up another problem. This is one of the major obstacles in the GC and Citizenship process which unfortunately is not transparent and there is no data available to tell you when you will pass this obstacle. If the attitude of some of the members in this organization is the delay in FBI name check is not going to happen to them and it is only random and a side problem, think again and watch out for what will be coming your way. By no means, this is not a side problem, this is one of those hidden obstacles that you don't know it is in your way once you hit it...and once you hit it, you are stuck. If we are going to be united and make the GC process transparent, we should not hand pick some of the problems that we want to fight today and come back to other problems later. I did spoke with Sheila Murthy Lawyers on chances of maintaining GC processing and Consular processing.
My firm is OK with my long Leave of Absence...Only thing that threw spanner in the wheel was comment from Sheila Murthy firm's advise.
Per them, to renew AP and EAD, I need to be phsically back in states and also stay in States for the duration of approval i.e. if it takes 3 months for renewal of AP and EAD, then I need to be in States for that duration.
I asked them what if I can apply 5months in advance, from Outside US and someone can fedex it to me. Max I can come back for few days.
.. Per them this will not work...
What do you guyz say ?

After many calls and emails we received W-2 Thursday that has income and taxes of only first two months. Now he says that he showed remaining 4 months as his profit so he can only send 1099. Please advise if I can take any legal action against this employer.

Cash/capital/loans are getting harder to obtain. So even companies unrelated to the financial sector might not hire more (maybe not layoffs).
