Everyone filing 485. Now restrictions in H1b will not impact most of IV members if it is there.

True, it is not based on a true story as people have pointed out about certain inconsistencies in timeline. There is something called a Satire, people.
I too know of a friend on H1 who lost her father and could not go due to lack of Visa stamping. It just churned our gut seeing her suffering at the time, yet we were all totally helpless to do ANYTHING. :mad:
People, we have an opportunity to do something NOW. So, let us not lose this opportunity.

Got the status update email from USCIS stating a card has been issued for my 485 application.
I am not married yet. What are the implications if I get married to a citizen of india residing in India.
Kindly refer me to appropriate material if you know of any.

Family Second Preference (F2): Spouses, minor children, and unmarried sons and daughters (over age 20) of lawful permanent residents. (114,200) At least seventy-seven percent of all visas available for this category will go to the spouses and children; the remainder will be allocated to unmarried sons and daughters.
PETITION
Relatives of intending immigrants who plan to base their immigrant visa applications on family relationship must obtain Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). The petitioning U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident must submit Form I-130 to the USCIS office. Forms and instructions are available from USCIS. Once USCIS approves the petition, they will send the petitioner a notice of approval, Form I-797. USCIS will also forward the approved petition to the Immigrant Visa Processing Center, which will contact the intending immigrant with further information.

To get a 3 year extension:
* I-140 needs to be approved, AND
* your PD in the current months VB needs to be retrogressed.
If I-140 is still pending, either it needs to be pending >365 days, or your LC itself should have been filed >365 days ago.

Given the hopelessness of the situation in March, switched jobs and was unable to file labor for a variety of reasons. Now everyday I see people come over and tell me how they plan to switch jobs once the 6 month mandated hibernation is over...I feel like breaking something. Lot of them have even stopped working, confident that a new job awaits :mad:
8 years of paying taxes in this country and not even a piece of plastic to show for it. :mad:

I know people on h1 with consulting companies did better than those who got stuck with one permanent job.Stale career , stale pay and so on...

Surprised to see that you were unware of this. Getting GC is painful process as we all know. There are three situations
1) Don't file I-485 till you get married. Risk, you might have already used 6 years on H1.
2) File your I-485 and get quickly married , then you can add your spouse. Do a court marriage in US and later you can do a marriage ceremony in India.
3) File your I-485 and get green card with out having chance to add your spouse
Since you fall in category 3, your situation may be worst.
Couple of options
1) If the girl(or guy :)) is in US, absolutely no problem. Only thing is if girl is already in US, you will get lot of family pressure from girl side.Have to compromise on lots of things. May be will become a house husband.
2) Girl from India, now you have to find a really smart girl who can get admission to universities or pass TOFEL GRE etc with flying colors. Then long distance affair starts. Girl in city X studying guy in city Y. Meeting once in a month. Lossing lot of money on commute and mental peace.The girl will have now her own friend circle and over period of time she might start liking someone else. Based on real situations.
3) Move to Canada and apply for Canadian citizenship. That's easier to get and easier to bring spouse there. But again you won't be able to bring her to US
4) Wait for 5 years. Who will want to wait for you 5 years.
Best Option
Return to your home country and enjoy life there. Believe me you won't have never any regret in life. It's just not worth for all the pains and miseries it bring in one's life. GC : Grievance Card.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Information is power. I also think not many people at IV will like the idea of writing to Indian newspapers. We shouldn't feel ashamed. Someone has to start somewhere.
