IV is the only group that is trying something for EB gc's!!! If you don't agree with IV mission statement - least you can do is SHUT UP! If you have other selfish agenda's take them some place else... don't use IV as a platform to segregate a group.
(In my personal opinion... IV should BAN anyone who suggests anything that breaks this group down! Enough is ENOUGH!)
____________________________
Mission Statement
The mission of Immigration Voice is to organize grassroots efforts and resources to solve several problems in the employment based green card process including (a) delays due to Retrogression (visa number unavailability for certain employment-based categories) (b) delays due to USCIS processing backlogs and (c) delays due to Labor Certification backlogs. We will work to remove these and other flaws by supporting changes to immigration law for high-skilled legal employment-based immigrants. High-skilled legal immigrants strengthen the United States' economy and help maintain American technological superiority.

P.S sorry for the rant - but some of the threads are really disappointing... EB2 vs EB3, Masters vs Non-masters....

Finally I gave a thought to all this GC business and I am planning to start my Canadian PR too, here are my questions :
1. Does anybody know of any good immigration cunsulting company for Canadian PR processing ?
2. How much would be the total cost to get it done throught the consulting services ?
3. Are there any hidden costs which these companies tell you at the end and try to rip you ?
Thanks
1) Best do your own job. The agents/consulting companies most dont do a
good job.
http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33
Thats the newsgroup of can immigration.
You need IELTS score 7 in each section. It takes about 1.5 years if you apply from US.
"3. Are there any hidden costs which these companies tell you at the end and try to rip you ?"
Companies will always say u qualify to get you on board (for the money they get)
well companies will put the burden on u to get 7 in each section.
So my advice is u first get 7 in each section. Then only u will know if u
clear passmark. Note: 7 in each section is not a walk in the park. U need
practice(stategy).
For details see Canada immigration section in britishexpats.com
Even then if u want some help (because u dont have time etc)
contact andrew miller or jim humphries (who post in the newsgroups
often) They do have knowledge of the rules etc which u yourself can know
by reading on the newsgroup.
Cost are (if u do yourself) for one adult person ( of course family members dont need ielts test) Note: child has lesser fees
550 Can $ + 475 Can $ (if u get through) + IELTS fee (120Aust Dollars approx) + medical testing (depends on where u do india or us)
+ transcript fees + mailing feee + other smal fees.

Stop whining and move on with life. There is still a long way to go.
One worthless post!!!
Thank you for your information.I hope you know the situation right now in USA.In jan 2010 H1 people came to Newark Airport were asked to form in a separate queue as soon as they get down from the flight for two levels of interview. Some of them are sent back. Now you can't find employer to transfer your H1 immediately. Before two years it was possible to transfer H1 with out having recent pay stubs and they never asked client letter. Now if you don't have a job you can't transfer your H1 to anybody.
Before Sep 2009 it was two minutes time to take LCA. Now it takes 1 week time to approve LCA. We never heard about Employer-Employee relationship before 2010.

Hello All,
I have a valid H1 (I-797, I-94) till 2009, but my H1 Visa on my passport has expired in 2005. My wife has a valid H4 till 2009; similarly her H4 visa on her passport got expired, we havent traveled outside of US from then. Now she is planning to go to India next month because of some family urgency and she is planning to take an appointment for H4 visa stamping in Chennai consulate (India). My question is, is there going to be any problem for her stamping as my Visa on my passport has been expired even though I have a valid H1 I-797 till 2009?. Is there any rule which states primary applicant has to have valid visa on his/her passport for H4 stamping.
If any one of you had a similar situation please share your experiece, it will be very helpful.

Unemployment is everywhere, the worst is in california. It does not matter whether its IT or any job. Some of the employers layoff the most talented and hardworking person.
I was thinking is there anyway for those having canadian permanent would reside, search for any jobs till the recession is over and come back to US. In that case one can accumlate the time in canada.

Thanks! I have visited this web site before. Now my doubt is, if I show my EAD as a proof for the status, I am worried about they will give DL only for 3 months i-e till the validity of EAD. Then I have to go again to DMV after 3 months to renew again for another 9 monts validity of new EAD. This is pain in bu--, as it continue till I get GC. Due to the retrogression, I do not know when I will get GC.

At this time we do not have any one assigned member by IV to lead the chapter. However in the interest of getting things started I request the chapter members to organize a confrence call. If 'williblucky' would like to set it up and send messags to everyone, pls go ahead. If there is anyone else willing to volunteer to set up a call for a weekend pls go ahead. Make sure you send PM's to each member on this thread and inform them about the time for the call. It is important that we have the state chapter active.

So people should stop asking, right? Every now and then, people are asking whether it is from Receipt Date or from Notice Date.
People calling the USCIS Customer Service for EAD (90 days) always get an answer that it is from Notice Date. We know it is from Receipt date, not notice date.
Anyway, as I was saying, it is your path. I have chosen mine.

Today, I filed an official complaint with IRS about this employer. They told, they are going to send a notice asking the employer to reply to the tax bearer within 10 days from the receipt of the letter. I don't know how the employer is going to react and if they would still provide a corrected W2. Hoping, they would provide, otherwise I would have to call IRS again after another 2 weeks time. I had to be on the phone line for almost 30 mins to reach the IRS customer representative. It is a real pain.

Gurus
Any one got EAD from NSC i.e receipts with LINXXXXXXX filed in july & Aug?
Same question.
In forums, I've only seen EAD approvals either from TSC or from CSC. Any July/Aug filers got EAD approvals from NSC?

I would say:
1. Stay on H1B as long as possible. Try not to use EAD unless absolutely necessary.
2. Because of 1 above, if you switch to the new employer USCIS would know you left the previous employer. (since you will file H1B transfer).
3. I see that you have everything worked out nicely from your current employer to have 180 days for your AC-21 portability. You have to really evaluate if it is really worth going to new employer in Dec 07. (if there is enormous financial gain like pre-IPO etc)
4. There is nothing wrong in switching jobs before 180 days either on EAD or H1B but in order to play safe the best bet is to, switch on H1B after 180 days. Enjoy your paid holidays and join the new employer in 2008 with peace of mind.
Gurus,
Here is my situation:
I-140 approved - PD: May '06
I-485 filed - July 30 '07 (India)
EAD cards - Received
APs - Received
Due to a slowdown in their business, my employer is laying me off in Dec '07. I'm still short of 1 month to complete my 180 days of I-485 filling. However, they said they will not withdraw my I-140 and, to help me, will in fact keep me on their payroll until Jan '08, with my Jan '08 salary as my severance and my official status as on "paid leave". So far, so good.
I also have a job offer, and my new employer wants me to join them in Dec '07, on EAD. My question is: Can I be on officially on the payroll of two companies simultaneously on H-1B and/or EAD? If yes, do I need to inform the USCIS of my status (new employer; AC21)? My other option is to say No to the new (attractive) job offer (or to try to convince them to wait until Feb '08, which they'll likely not agree to), and and take up another job in Feb '08, on EAD / H-1B transfer, using AC21. Please advise whether I'm fine with using the first option!!
