With all due respect, the probelem I have with volunteers is that I don't think amtures can pull a job this big, you've got to have profesionals, somethng like a compain maneger.
I admire the courage of your guys, and think the goal is fantastic. But the way it goes, I don't see how it can be achieved.
I've learned a great deal about immigration from the forum here. I very much appreciate it. I try to give back by answering questions others may have. I think IV has been doing a great job serving as that capacity.
But you guys want do something bigger. Well, you have faith in it, I don't, at least not now, neither many others. Maybe that is why you are still asking for money and volunteers.

Hi,
My EAD renewal was filed in TSC in the middle of June. Now it is more than 2 months I haven't heard anything from them. I wonder do they request for FP during EAD renewal ? When I applied for EAD first time in 2007 there was no request for FP and the EAD was approved without FP. But I have seen several posts where folks mentioned that they have got FP notification after they filed their EAD renewal. I have done one FP beginning of 2008 as part of my AOS filed on July 2, 2007. So, I wonder do I receive another FP notification as part of my EAD renewal or USCIS can use my existing FP (they may have in their system) ?

i just read on another forum, that about 70,000 visa's come up for the new fiscal year which starts 1st october, so it might take a couple of months to see any movement, but it will happen, as they have got to wait and see and get a better feel for how many filers there were for july/augest, as they havent processed them all yet, then we will see something happen. so lets wait and see what the Nov bullitin says, and if the rally had any kind of effect.
140K visas come up for the new fiscal, not 70k. Those 140k are somewhat evenly split (20-30% each) across teh four quarters (its not an exact science, but thats the order in which USCIS requests visas from Dept of state). So the number of visa numbers used up in october is going to be much lesser than 70K, probably around 10-12k.

I support this idea most.
I agreee with the spirit of things - that multiple ways of expressing anguish, disgust, frustration is required.
While we have to keep generating funds and doing the lobbying, the frustration of the members must be "used".
Here is my suggestion (and this was mentioned by someone earlier also) - let's send the criss-crossed and blackened photocopies of our degrees, patents, publications etc. to the congress and other authorities as a symbol of how useless these are becoming as we wait for GCs. We can coordinate the event such that everyone's reaches at around the same time.
Again, all I am saying is that we can do multiple things to gain attention and make our point, and these can happen simultaneously with the other activities ongoing at the State chapter level.

What will students get out of it? Their Green cards are not stuck? Are you offering them H1B visa that they desperately want? They do not care about Green cards. They only care for scholarship, a job after graduation and H1B sponsorship from the employer. You are offering nothing from this list.

If we cannot help ourselves and stand up for ourselves, nobody else would.
I am trying to take at least a day off from work. I would lose money from my wages if I take day off but I am ready to lose money for the sake of doing something good for myself and family. Others who are sitting on their armchairs should also consider coming to DC if they want their greencards.
True, the students graduating this year or early next year probably won't get anything out of it except for an exercise in PR. However, students who have just started off with their studies here and have 2-3 years before graduation can definitely gain a lot if the CIR is passed. Also, a lot of these student organizations have the contact details of their past members, members who are now working mostly in the US and these organizations can contact those members requesting them to join in this advocacy.

The fact is that all of us waiting for the GC are losing a lot of money already, especially those who have remained with the same I-140. A lot of us are losing money because the wait for GC has stopped our career growth and we'll continue to lose money/growth opportunities if we don't motivate enough people to join this advocacy. Some of us may not be able to join the advocacy efforts at DC in person due to genuine reasons, but that does not mean we start throwing satires at them.

In the state of Mass delivery is covered by the State provided you show you don't have insurance. Millions of single moms are delivering and many are teenagers and many are w/o any insurance. I got a FP notice for next month. It is certainly not related to AP or EAD renewal, since I don't have any pending AP or EAD renewal. I got my EAD renewed last March and AP in May. So hoping that I got the FP notice since they started looking at my 485 application and something positive will be end result.
