Even though Freedom_fighter's intentions are right, the intelligence is too low. Did he/she suddenly wake up and think 'WOW, I HAVE AN IDEA THAT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD. 600 million legal immigrants have not thought of this but I did?????".
The judge will dismiss such a case at the start by saying "please produce the culprit who put a gun to your head and told you to come to this country".

I have to agree with you on this. Its not like Bollywood did not make movies before Danny Boyle made one about slums and poverty in India. There were so many good movies made by Indians with not a single white or foreign contribution, but never even released outside of India. It took a white man to come and show the world the poverty stricken children of India that the world stood up and took notice.
My hope is that things will change now. Just as the world has realized the technical talent Indians have in IT and Business, my hope is that they realize that we have others talents too!
All said, congratulations to ARR and Pooktty. I hope Danny Boyle really keeps up his word to those kids to help in thier education.
I just dont get it. A.R Rehman has been doing amazing work for ages now and it needed a British movie to take him to the world stage. Really, his work in Dil Se...was way better than what he did in Slumdog.
Bollywood sucks and how!!! They need to figure out how they can take their cinema to the world audience. They've been failing miserably in promoting their movies in the west. Americans welcome change and encourage talent always and our bollywood producers/directors need to tap that.

Most likely this saga of retrogression will be decided in the next 2 to 3 months when Senate / House discuss the CIR. If by July end nothing happens, it will be a signal for us to leave. I know this will be a good news for some since the queue will get shorter, but who cares. This country "was" the best, but the next "best" country is likely to be from Asia. We all know it is either India or China...

As this issue has been going on for some time I decided to add my two cents for whatever it is worth.
It is important not just to note the content of a posting but also its tone. People in this forum are smart enought to determine whether a posting contain constructive criticism or is just accusatory. I think it is better to leave the accusatory ones to die a natural death while replying to constructive posts even when they are heavily critical.
Another thing to note is that everyone has their own peculiar situation. It may quite work out that only some issues may be solved by the legislation and it may not work to a person's advantage. Even then the people who are actively involved should make the call about what to pursue and what not to. The subtle nuances of the behind the scene politics is not visible to us sitting on the outside and I personally wouldn't like insider details aired on this public forum as this would provide the opposition with ammunition. I may be a bit conceited in thinking that discussions in this forum are being watched by the opposition but I am sure that that is happening.
Meanwhile good luck to everybody and my sincere appreciation to the core IV volunteers who it appears have significant understanding of how the political game is being played.

Hey Guys,
I am so intrigued by this whole affair I am not going to comment on USINPAC, however, I know Robinder Sachdev personally and can vouch for him and let us get things clear about Robinder Sachdev. I am dismayed and sad and wanted to step up to the plate for our good friend. I hope you will appreciate my spirit.
Guys, this guy is an asset for any team. How many of us know his nameversus others you know? I do not mind going out on a limb for Robinder as a person all you need to do is read what he writes. And I would like to answer the question of EAGERR2I about what Robinder may be thinking about our effortsplease go to http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1109544. An analysis like that in the main editorial page of the number 1 newspaper of Bombay, read by the CEOs, film makers, and politicians imagine what the impact of his words is?
And last week he had an article about the nuclear deal in India Abroadit was such a brilliant and balanced analysis. So maybe let us stop bashing up the talent we haverather let us talk to him and see how he can help us both in the US and India. I may be getting overly carried away, but I am in the same boat as you all are, and my family is hurting emotionally because of this mess we all are inbut I know how much this guy is working on issues of our interest. I just felt like getting this out of my system upon reading some of the comments in IV.
There are very few, if any, maybe a total of 4 or 5 people, in the US and India, like Robinder who understand the business, strategic affairs, and politics between the US and India; and the complexities of the relations and the peoples in both countries; and the issue of Indians in America (which means Indian Americans, GC applicants, and also H1 workers).
Robinder will be the last person to seek any publicity out of this. Lets get all the help that we need from this very influential and highly networked individual for our current and future print and visual media initiatives from Robinder who genuinely believes in the cause and wants to help IV.
Peace V

Clouds appear,
and give people a chance to rest,
from looking at the moon.
Think of the case status website as the moon, and this little distraction of a poetry session as clouds.
This one is from the famous Japanese Haiku master Matsuo Basho. Hope it mollifies all those who complain that this site is becoming too India-centric.

I am not so sure if the CIR bill will help us. Allowing 12+ million illegals into the same system that we are in will totally screw up our chances of getting green cards. Does the bill mention anything about increasing budget and manpower for the USCIS department to handle 12+ million potential applications? Considering that large numbers of the illegals are from a country which also has a specific country quota in the GC lines, will the bill increase drastically the number of Visa Numbers available??
This bill favors the illegals so much that even reading it makes me wonder how fair the system is to those of us who follow laws and file documents on time. What's the point? All of us should just forget about the rules and go do whatever job we want to do.

Gurus,
At PortOfEntry, CBP officers are QUESTIONING IF you are working for the sponsoring employer and many folks just switched jobs with AC-21 with no valid H1B anymore.
Questions:
1. What are the Consequences at Port of Entry on travelling with AP and NOT working for the ORIGINAL GC sponsor?
2. Can anyone share thier experience what was the outcome at Port of Entry when the answer is "NO - I am not working with sponsoring employer anymore" Were they held at Portof Entry indefinitely ?
3. What Steps can anyone take when at CBP office/Immigration Official is NOT allowing you to re-enter US on Valid AP (I-485 pending) and you are NOT working for sponsoring employer and no valid H1B?
Did you or someone you know experience such questions at POE for an advanced parole? Or are you just posing a hypothetical?
I have recently re-entered on AP and not a single question was asked. Not only that, I was not fingerprinted or photographed at the counter like a visa holder would be. I was taken to the back office where an agent entered information from my AP into the computer, stamped the AP and gave it back to me. No questions asked. Period. This was at the JFK airport in NY.
Parole is meant to grant entry to resume adjustment of status. Parole is not subject to employment, it is subject to a pending I-485.
If this is a hypothetical from you, then please shake these imaginations and live in peace and enjoy EAD and AP.
Too much thinking and too much analysis has caused this community to revert back to H1 lifestyle and they are not using EAD and AP - ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS why we were all so happy due to 485 filing.
What is the point of having an early 485 filed, if you are not going to use EAD and AP and be at mercy of consulates for restamping and be at mercy of employers who will need to sponsor you to hire you?

Ask her to come back immediately to the US and go to the local court and get married. It is a simple solution. Hi,
Here is my situation. I can apply for I-485 since my labor(PD - Mar 05) has cleared and I-140 has been filed.
But, I have a fiancee and we are getting married in September 2007. She is on H1-B but currently traveling in India.
We cannot get married before September 2007, so, as far as I understand, I cannot add her into my AOS filing right now. And, as far as I understand they are gonna retrogress the dates to oblivion after August 17, 2007.
1. So, my question is, would she have to wait until my priority date become current again before she can add herself into my AOS application?
2. Let's say the answer for question 1 is YES. What happens if due to whatever reason, my I-140 gets approved BEFORE my priority date becomes current, so, in that scenario I wouldn't have been able to apply for her AOS anyway? Then, what are our options?
3. Let's say the answer for question 1 is NO. Then, is there a special processing I need to do to add her since my priority dates will not be current anytime soon because of the retrogression?
Please remember, she DOES carry H1-B on her own.
Thank you,
gc101.

I believe this would be an interesting question for IV admins or attorneys who are helping IV and senior IV'ans who have done AC21
Scenario1:
If you are on H1 in your 6th year with EAD (not used) then after 6th year will be applicant be on EAD or does he has to fill I-9 with employer
Scenario2:
If you are on H1 in your at the end of 6th year with EAD (not used) then before the end of 6th year an applicant loosed job. then from that point will he be automatically be on EAD or does he has to do some thing to file till he gets a job (because once he find a job and he might apply for new h1 or join with EAD and he can file I-9)
Scenario3:
If you are on H1 in your at the end of 5th year with EAD (not used) then before the end of 5th year or in 6th year an applicant loosed job. then from that point will he be automatically be on EAD or does he has to do some thing to file till he gets a job (because once he find a job and he might apply for new h1 or join with EAD and he can file I-9)
Can IV answer these questions with the help of an attorney or any one who has gone through this can shed some light
This would be useful info for most of us
Thanks in advance

Please ...let us agree on this ...will get an EAD even if i-140 is pending while 485 is filed correct??
Not quite. You will get an EAD ONLY if you filed form I-765 along with your I-485. Your I-140 has no bearing on your EAD.
Thanks,
Jayant

Folks, IV is a platform to come and work on the common goal. Come join us and help out. Be an active volunteer and work on daily basis with us to solve the problem and make IV better. We need more real workers on the ground than strategy advisers, critics and Management consultants.
Enough said. Actions will speak louder than words and you need to get involved to tell us your ideas. If you are interested to actively participate send us an email (info at immigrationvoice.org) with your valid email address with your name, phone number and what you would like to do to help IV. We will welcome your active participation and assign you leadership roles if you want.

Going back might be a good call. But the truth is, no matter how much money you got, how secured you are, the bottom-line is that the call has to come from the individual.
I will share my concern. I was 23 when I moved here and I already spent 10 years of prime life here in this country. After finishing my college, I worked in India for a year and half, and as any young adult I grew up thinking one day, I will change the way life operates in India. There is a system which operates India. It is powerful, normal human like you and I cannot overcome the system. People like Gandhi could, they are willing to sacrifice them self for the best of others. Or you could people like our current politicians who know how to work the system. People like lallu, Jaya, Karunanidhi, Naidu etc, they grew up as a part of the system. For them even when killing someone, they might not feel the remorse. But you and I cannot even bribe without feeling bad, which is good. But the question is how long can you sustain that? I am not 23 anymore; Now, I know what responsibility is all about. I have 2 kids; I dont know whether I am hard enough to fight the system at this current stage of my life.
There is a famous quote, which states that there is a breaking point for every human, once we are pushed beyond that point, your action does not originate from your brain. In other words you will become part of the system.
For me this is the main concern. When I talk to people here who wants to go back, they say that they will buy a house in some close community and they will live a happy life inside. For me thats a fools dream. You cannot shut off from others, may be for a month or two, soon you have to face the real world.
So the answer for your question like in this question. How are you going to handle the system in India? I do not believe that things will change. May be in 25 years; Not anytime soon. So until then you have to live a life where in you have to adjust to the system.
I do not have an answer to the question. How will I manage the day to day life? If you know the answer let me know
- ;)

CIR? There is no indication that CIR will happen this year. Why wait for it? It brings up too much anti-immigrant sentiments amongst citizens affected by the recession.
We can just go ahead and support this bill right?
Is there an official stand on this bill from IV core?

I wish it was so easy. USCIS cannot just do fixes on their own. Getting the administration to support us and get some fixes is what IV is working on.
I wish more people had come to the advocacy event. They would have seen first hand what amount of hard work has been put in. The kind of commitment and personal sacrifices members have put in to not only get the ball rolling on the admin fixes but also building relationships on the hill.
I dont disagree with you. But I was just telling an admin fix that could be pissble and bring releief to lots of people who really need it.
